Our popular domino games are beautifully illustrated to hold kids attention while they learn and they teach too...

Why domino? See below for a really great insight into how domino can assist with kids learning numbers, early counting & basic math. Yep...and they are fun too :)

Totally agree!

Art is great for kids...one of the reasons we work closely with talented artists to create kids games & puzzles which not only teach motor skills but also grow imaginations.

Pin, Pin, Pin

Ok I realise that I am a little (truly the tortoise of!) slow on the uptake however I have started to display compulsive tendencies when dealing with our Pinterest page. I am truly consumed by the power of the Pin!

It started quite innocently - a gentle update of our page - make sure all our new kids' puzzles & games were being represented as we wanted...add a few pre-schooler craft ideas, some great treats and cookies and then BAM! I was addicted. So much so that I spent hours looking through millions (probably not!) of images. I lusted after a whole host of different wonderful designs & products.

I should have been prepared - after all - I have always been a junkie of great imagery. I was a 20 something in the era of madly, glamorous glossy mags - living in London, England and working in fashion meant I was surrounded by beautiful photographs and I LOVED them all. I practically inhaled anything that looked like a mag...I read everything I could find. Even junk mail worked if the image was good!

And you know I MISS IT. The surge of expectation when you open the pages of the new edition, the beautiful artwork, the dramatic location shots - how it filled me with wanderlust & love of great design. So I have resolved not to fight my new love - I just need to find the time...

The only thing to do is swap the gym for an extra hour pinning - I think it could balance me better than yoga - just got to stop eating chocolate whilst I'm pinning...mmm!

We get asked often about the name of our company...not really surprising as it is a little odd, not quite the norm!   So today I thought I would share how Glottogon came to be...

It seemed that I had spent forever dreaming up a name for our business...one that would be different, memorable and at the same time mean something special, unique, a splendid new word for our super, new business.

Simply - I was playing with the kids one evening and I heard my husband speaking with his Mamma. His family are Greek they don't really talk quietly... it's kind of a festive, happy shout to and from each of them at ALL times - they don't whisper, they usually speak loudly, they often just yell! Anyway back to our name...I heard a weird phrase in their chatter, one that I liked, one that would work, one that I wasn't familiar with - I put it into that quiet corner (actually it's not at all quiet, it is full of madly competing priorities and new ideas?!!) of my head where I save up moments for after the kids are asleep and went back to child wrangling. Secretly giving myself a super high five - knowing this would be the word, the one which could work, finally! And so ...the bundle of Greek words turned into GLOTTOGON - it more or less means "the beginning of the story" or "about a new generation".

I think it is apt, certainly unique and I hope you agree - a little bit special!

Daydream Believer

I daydream a lot - even today when my time is very precious I still do it...in that spare 20 seconds between school pick up and home or the moment just after all the kids sleep when the house is sooo quiet -  at least for a second! I have always loved the optimism of dreams, the wonder of why things are as they are or how the could be different.

So why am I sharing this? Well because Glottogon is one of my dreams - I hope that you fall in love with our products as I do, enjoy watching your kids have fun with our playthings and appreciate the passion I feel each time I see a new sample for the first time. Life as a little (growing) business can be a torrid journey, much like the traditional fairy tales I loved as a child. It is also full of wonderful fun, nonsense and chaos which is exactly how I get to live my dream each day!

Thanks for popping by - have a look around - I hope you like what I dream!
